The Dickson Senior Center will have dances in July. The schedule is: July 11 - TNJ Band ($5); July 18 - Summer Party with Cotton Band (Dinner at 6 p.m. for $4; Dance at 7 p.m. for $5); July 25 - Joe Diamond Band ($5). The center is located at 206 W. Walnut St. in Dickson.

The Child Advocacy Center in Dickson requests donations of toys to provide to victims of child abuse. Toy donations can be made at the CAC at 604 Spring St. in Charlotte on Mondays-Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Disabled American Veterans of Dickson needs volunteers to drive veterans to doctor’s appointments in the area. Anyone interested (no special driver’s license required) can contact Clara Vann at (615) 446-1870.

Storytellers Hideaway Farm’s Inaugural Songwriters Festival will be held Saturday, July 13 from 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at the former Johnny Cash farm, 9676 Old Highway 46 in Bon Aqua. Headliners for the Songwriters Festival are Mitch Rossell, Dallas Frazier, Mark Alan Cash and McKenna Bray. A Grief Support Group for families and friends whose loved ones have died will begin Saturday, July 13, and continue through Aug. 3 for four Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel Room of the Dickson County YMCA, 225 Henslee Dr. The group is a free service offered by Taylor Funeral Home as a part of the After Care Program. The sessions are facilitated by Mary Simmons, Bereavement Facilitator. The 45th annual Dickson County Farm Tour is now taking reservations. The event will be held Saturday, July 13 starting at Dickson County High School at 8 a.m. The day-long tour is open to ages 12 or older for $10 per person. Mt. Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church Revival will be held July 14-17 at 7 p.m. each night at 3655 Hwy. 47 East in Charlotte. The guest evangelist is Rev. Kevin Medlin. On Sunday the potluck meal at 5 p.m. and special musical guests Austin Powell and Allie Blount at 6 p.m. before the service at 7 p.m.

The Burgess Family Reunion will be held Sunday, July 21 at Noon at Montgomery Bell State Park- Church Hollow Shelter.

 

A 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the GFWC Dickson County Woman’s Club will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8 a.m. at Montgomery Bell State Park, 1020 Jackson Hill Rd. in Burns.  All proceeds from the 5K go to the Dickson Community Clinic for women’s health issues.
