The Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer, a program of the Tennessee Department of Human Services, aims to provide financial assistance for school meals missed during the months of March, April, and May due to COVID-19 school closures. The P-EBT money can be used at grocery stores and other retailers that accept EBT cards to buy food for children. Families already receiving SNAP or TANF benefits do not need to apply as the funds have already been distributed. Families can apply at or call 1-866-311-4287 by Aug. 14, at 4:30 p.m.


Walnut Grove Baptist Church Annual Church Yard and Bake Sale will be held Friday, Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church at 1456 Yellow Creek Rd. 


Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church Women’s Ministry Annual Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. BBQ chicken plates ($10), child's chicken plate ($5) and hot dog plate ($4) will be available.  Whole chickens will be $10 (no side items).  There will also be a silent auction and bake sale.  All funds received will be used to support the women’s ministry.


The Gideon Carr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Education Building of the First Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of Murrell and Mulberry Streets, at 10:00 a.m. All women above the age of 18 who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution are eligible for membership. Tennessee State Parks’ Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee will be held Sept. 1-30 and will be a virtual event this year. Riders can log their miles on as part of the Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee Cycling Club. The goal is for participants to ride 688 miles, the distance from Bristol to Memphis. Participants can log their miles any way they choose, including road cycling, indoor cycling, gravel or mountain biking. The cost to participate is $150. All participants will receive access to trusted routes at multiple Tennessee State Parks and a 2020 BRAT jersey and T-shirt. Riders can register at

Tennessee State Parks are providing a 10 percent discount for Tennessee residents for overnight accommodations through a new Tennessee Resident Discount Program, applying to most campsites, cabins and lodge rooms across the state.
