At a recent meeting of the Gideon Carr chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, members brought memorabilia that had been handed down in their families for a Show and Tell program.

Those items included a 200-year-old hymnal and offering envelope, a lace fichu (worn to conceal a low-cut bodice), photos and the trick lariat used by the mother of two members who was a rodeo rider.

The next meeting of the chapter will be Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. in the education building of the First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Murrell and Mulberry streets.

All women above the age of 18 who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution are eligible for membership. Information is available at www.dar.org.
