Around 150 people attended the sheriff’s candidate forum on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Dickson County Fire & Rescue station on Jones Creek Road in Dickson.
All the bay doors were open to allow plenty of fresh air. Catered food was offered and raffle drawings were held for many items, including guns, with proceeds going to the volunteer firefighter organization.
Most of the event was a meet-and-greet, though part of it included each candidate addressing the crowd.
Candidates discussed their backgrounds and motivations to be sheriff. Taking questions, all of the candidates expressed strong support for the Second Amendment.
They also addressed the importance of coordination among all first responder organizations in the county, plus the value of school resource officers, among other things.
Early voting begins on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and ends on Thursday, Oct. 29. The last day a by-mail absentee request can be processed is Tuesday, Oct. 27.
