Betty Lee Nunley Hughes, of Dickson TN, was born February 27, 1927 to the late Alan Nunley and Mable Aken. She departed this world on October 1, 2019, at NHC, Dickson.
Funeral services and a Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. from the New Hope Baptist Church. Viewing will begin on Friday October 4, 2019 at 4 until 5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Pastor Roderick Davison will be the eulogist and Dr. Jimmy Overton will officiate. Visitation on Saturday at the church will begin at 1 p.m. until service time. Place of rest will be in the East Dickson Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by husband, Albert Hughes; four sons: Harry Hughes, Johnny Hughes, Terry Hughes, and Donald Hughes; six sisters and three brothers.
Betty united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age; where she served on the Mother’s Board. She loved flowers and had a passion for cooking. After 30+ years, she retired from East Hill Restaurant and was featured on a local radio station after retiring.
She is survived by daughters: Shirley A. Horner, Mabel Tidwell both of Dickson TN; Sons: Robert Hughes, Bobby Hughes of Nashville, Tn.; Sisters Anette Yarbough, Myrtle Pollard, Veronica Grigsby and Delores Corlew, of Dickson, Tn. Betty was blessed with many grand and great grandchildren, as well as several cousins and friends.
MaMa Betty was a loving, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be loved and truly missed.
