Henry Herbert Heggie, age 80 of Dickson, TN passed away on March 30, 2021 at the Life Care Center of Centerville, TN after a short stay. He was born on May 4, 1940 to the late William Franklin and Zelma Lucille Wall Heggie in Cumberland Furnace, TN.
Herbert spent over 33 years employed by the City of Dickson as a Trash Truck Driver. He was a professional wrestler for 15 years and enjoyed bodybuilding in his spare time. He competed in the Mr. Southern America Bodybuilding Competition in the late 70’s, once finishing 7th place. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Gail Heggie; his brothers, Robert Joe Heggie, William Gracey Heggie, and Garland Neal Heggie; his sisters, Emma Jean Winstead, Mabel Carroll Anderson, and Betty Sue Morgan; and also the mother of his children Jane Davidson Heggie.
Survivors include his sons, Tommy Heggie (Lisa) and Devin Heggie, both of Dickson; his grandchildren, Tommy Heggie, Corey Heggie, and Chris Bott; and his great-grandchildren, Chelsea Heggie, Cameron Heggie, and Kayden Heggie.
Funeral services took place on Saturday, April 3, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Reynolds officiating. Interment followed in the Hamilton Cemetery. Visitation with the family was on Friday, April 2 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service, also at the funeral home.
