Robert Henry Lewis, Jr., age 69, a lifelong resident of Dickson County, died January 7, 2021 at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
He was born in Dickson County, son of the late Robert Henry Sr. and Tennie Mae Hughes Lewis. He was a 1969 graduate of Dickson County Senior High School. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an active member and deacon of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was a longtime employee with Ford Glass Plant where he worked for 30 years. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Nye’ Johnson.
Robert was a hard- working devoted husband. He was married to Stephanie Brooks Lewis for over 50 years. They created a beautiful family and adored them so. He was the best grandfather (Paw Paw) that enjoyed playing sports, grilling and sitting around for the laughs! He loved spending time with them as often as possible. Sunday dinners were the highlight.
Robert was a spiritual man and often shared the goodness of the Lord with everyone he was in contact with. He enjoyed being a deacon and participating in church activities and functions. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar and giving an encouraging word to those that needed it.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie; sons, Dedric Turner (Betty) and Robert (Amanda) Lewis, daughters, Keena Johnson (Roy) Keisha Ransom (Juan), Qiana Easley (Phillip) and Kenisha Lewis (Kenneth); siblings, Rhonda Eppenger, Rochelle Lewis, Ralph Lewis and Robin Bell;b grandchildren, Roy Johnson, Rah’Jay Lewis, Zaya Bryant, Nevaeh Johnson, Layla Ransom, JD (Juan) and Ramiah Lewis. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services and celebration of life will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, January 12, at 1:00 p.m. from the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Roderick Davison will be the eulogist. Visitation will be on Tuesday beginning at 12 Noon at the church until time of service. Military honors will be observed on the beginning of the service. FACIAL COVERINGS REQUIRED AND PLEASE PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING. Viewing will begin on Monday, January 11th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. (family not present) at the Taylor Funeral Home. Place of rest will be in the East Dickson Cemetery.
