Dickson County High School captain Cameron Breese helped the Cougars advance to the district final and the regionals for the second consecutive season, earning the Oakland City University signee the Main Street Media/Dickson Post boys soccer player of the year award.

The senior midfielder was named the team’s offensive MVP with seven goals and 18 assists. He was selected for the All-District 11-AAA team.

“This season, being my senior season, flew by,” Breese said. “I knew it would but I wanted everyone to really remember this season. Coach challenged us and scheduled some really difficult challenges for us so we could prepare for later on in the season and going to Huntsville and Chattanooga did that. We had a home stretch of about four games earlier in the season after our loss against Overton where we came out and really responded well. That stretch of games and really the whole season was memorable.”

Even after all the accolades and achievements, Breese said playing in college will give him new challenges.

“I try to overwhelm myself with my work ethic because I knew there’s always something to work on and get better,” Breese said. “I started my offseason workout with (Oakland City) and I have to remember now I’m a freshman and I have to continue to get better.”
