KINGSTON SPRINGS – Creek Wood defeated Hillwood 52-45 on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Harpeth High School in the Thanksgiving Classic.

The Red Hawks led at the end of every quarter, including a big first-quarter lead of 21-11. At half, Hillwood cut the lead to 28-21 and then to 36-35 at the end of the third quarter. But Creek Wood pulled away in the fourth quarter for the victory.

Tyler Neely put on a show scoring 21 points, and Rex Edmondson was in double digits with 11.

“This was one of the tougher games we have (had) in a while, both physically and mentally,” Creek Wood coach Charles Taylor said. “Hillwood is very good defensively, and they’re really physical.

“We had a few periods there in the second and third quarters when we couldn’t score, and they just made it really hard on us. But when we needed to, we were able to execute and get the looks we wanted on offense. It was really a nice, hard-fought victory for us.”

Creek Wood’s boys and girls basketball teams will now take a break before traveling to White House Heritage on Friday, Dec. 6.

Creek Wood (52): Tyler Neely 21, Rex Edmondson 11, Raekwonn Nesbitt 9, Bryson Payton 6, Kayden Austin 5.
