Matthew Faulks scored three goals and assisted on one to help lead Dickson to a 9-0 win over Creek Wood in the County Cup.
Davis Hare also scored two goals and assisted on two goals, while Brock Holley scored one goal and grabbed an assist, as well. Miguel Ramirez, Connor Berry and Drew Kavli each scored a goal for Dickson County.
Kavli got the scoring started for Dickson as he took a pass from teammate Luke Henderson and found the net about four minutes into the contest. Holley then found the net thanks to an assist from Faulks. Faulks scored the first of his three goals to round out the first half for Dickson with just a few minutes remaining.
Faulks then proceeded to score two goals to begin the second half within just a few minutes of each other. Hare assisted on the first goal of the second half, while Holley assisted on the second.
Berry then got in on the scoring, thanks to an assist from Hare, which was his second and final assist.
Ramirez scored his lone goal, and then Hare finished off the night with two goals late.
“Losing last season hurt everyone, so just to be back out here with the guys and coach them is an awesome experience,” said Dickson coach Chris Cardona. “I’m not going to take anything for granted now. It’s great to be back coaching these guys in a somewhat normal setting.”
“We lost out on a great season last year but it’s amazing to be back out here this year with my best friends,” said Hare. “Coach Cardona is doing an amazing job helping us and coaching us to get us in the right position. We can be as good as we want to be. It’s all about us.”
Although Creek Wood failed to find the net, coach Houston Daniel and his Red Hawks’ players were happy to be back out on the field.
“We’ve got a whole new type of energy this year, and I could tell it from the first practice,” Daniel said. “Because of last year, we’re not taking anything for granted because it was taken away. They’ve worked twice as hard to improve, and I saw a lot of that tonight. I think we can grow from our experience tonight.”
