Harpeth hosted Creek Wood on Tuesday, November 30 in Kingston Springs as the two schools, which are only 15 miles apart from each other, met for the first time this season.

Creek Wood’s Brianna Burgess got things started quickly for the Lady Red Hawks as she scored 23 points in the girls’ contest helping Creek Wood jump out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and they led 33-18 at the half.

The second half was more of the same for Creek Wood as they would go on to win 67-38.

11 different Lady Indians scored for Harpeth but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Lady Red Hawks.

Laura Nichols (16) and Abby Owen (12) also scored in the double digits while Emily Long led Harpeth with nine points.

The boys’ game was much closer as Harpeth and Creek Wood finished the first quarter tied at 14.

The Red Hawks were able to pull away in the second quarter to take a 35-24 lead into the half but Harpeth would not go away.

Harpeth took a lead with four minutes to go in the third and took a 39-27 lead into the fourth after allowing just two points.

Creek Wood was able to pull back to within three to make it a one-possession game but Logan Johnston’s 23 points helped Harpeth hold on for the 58-51 win.

Aiden Williams also scored 13 points for Harpeth while Creek Wood was led by Jace Harrell’s 19 points while Braden Dawson added 14 in the loss.
