NASHVILLE – The Dickson County girls soccer team defeated Hillsboro 4-1 Friday night to move to 13-1 on the season and stay undefeated in District 11-AAA play.
The Lady Cougars’ only loss was to Rowan County (Ky.) in the Smoky Mountain Cup on Aug. 24.
A.C. Milam, Millie Barnes, Kennedy Snyder and Courtney Harvey all scored goals against Hillsboro. Milam, Gracie Buchanan and Annabeth Woodard each collected assists. Goalie Kylea Heath only had to make one save.
“Hillsboro has some speed up top, and overall, it was a very physical game,” Dickson coach Chris Cardona said. “It challenged us, which we needed. We played against a hostile crowd, and this team really did give us a challenge. We played as a team and overcame adversity to get a big district win. It was a good experience for the girls to have before the (district) tournament.”
Dickson has two regular season contests before the postseason begins. The Lady Cougars travelled to Henry County on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and host Montgomery Central on Oct. 10.
“Our last two games should also be very physical,” Cardona said. “We are looking forward to playing Henry County, and then coming back for Senior Night. I am so proud of these ladies for not only playing hard all season, but also for representing their school with class.”
