Save-a-Lot Closure 2.JPG

The former Dickson Save-a-Lot location on Highway 46 South has closed.

Updates with clarification of 2014 ownership change.

The Dickson Save-a-Lot grocery store at 546 Highway 46 South has closed, company spokesperson Sarah Griffin said.

The location had changed ownership in 2014.

Griffin didn’t provide a reason for the store closure but said the decision to close the Dickson location came after the company’s regular reviews of its stores.

Many Save-a-Lot locations reportedly have been purchased by Yellow Banana, LLC, which plans to reopen several Save-a-Lot locations. However, according to 127 Wall Holdings co-founder Michael Nance (the parent company of Yellow Banana), none of those locations are in Tennessee.

He said he was unfamiliar with the Dickson location until a Dickson Post reporter contacted him. He said his team would consider researching the location to see if there is sufficient local need or interest to reopen the location.

Griffin said company policy is if there is not another Save-a-Lot in reasonable proximity to the location that closed to which those employees can be transferred, the company will offer those employees a severance package.

Save-a-Lot is based in Saint Louis. The company has almost 1,000 stores in 32 states, mostly in the eastern United States.
