The 4-H Chick Chain is one of the more recognized 4-H projects across Tennessee, highlighted by the 4-H Pullet Show and Auction to be held Monday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Dickson County Fairgrounds.
Dickson County 4-H currently has 16 members participating in the project. Last May, those participants received 18 red sex-link chicks to care for. The 4-H Chick Chain Project teaches 4-H’ers recommended management practices for growing and raising chickens.
At the show and auction, 4-H members will make six of their pullets available for auction. Proceeds from the auction will go to the 4-H Chick Chain Project. There will also be a profit-share check given to each 4-H member if the birds sell for more than this year’s expenses.
